Migrant Bird=poem by Famida Basheer

1. Migrant Bird
2. The globe's my world.The cloud's my kin
3. I care not where the skies begin;
4. 
   
5. The speaker in this poem is the bird.
6. The bird says the whole earth  as a single unit to which it belongs.
7. It feels that the clouds are its relatives.
8.  It says that it does not care where the sky begins
9. because the it is happy and thinks  that the sky is its home.
10. I spread my wings  through all the din;
11. All the noises are made by man.It flies by spreading its wings in freedom, and it flies high above all unpleasant things on the earth.
12. Through fears and fright I fly my flight.
13. It knows for sure the dangers from man. It knows the world is shared by animals and birds  too. yet the humble and meek ,the timid and afraid bird  flies high freely.
14. No walls for me.The sky  does not have any walls which are there on earth like hate,jealousy.greed etc., to hinder its path of flight.
15. No vigil gates.
16. It does not need any visa or permit to enter anywhere in the whole world.Nobody is going on watching as security day and night and no gates to enter or exit.it flight cannot be stopped.
17. No flags,no machine guns that blast
18. Citizens of those border states-
19. No political barriers or boundaries and the bird is the citizen of the free sky.
20. Brothers of her brother's sons
21.  There are fights and quarrels among brothers and brother's son for property or for any other reason. but
22. there is no such thing among them  as they are free birds and fly as a flock.
23. No maps,no boundaries to block
24. My sojourn into unknown lands.
25. No Political maps dividing nations as done by nations and men.There are no boundaries to block its flight.Wherever it flies ,it flies after a short stay.(sojourn)
26. I spawn and splash in distant spills
27. I breed my brood where'r I will.
28. It chooses to lay its eggs anywhere it likes.
29. Spawn-lay eggs
30. It plays and splashes the waters everywhere it goes.
31. whether they are lakes or ponds in distant lands.
32. It can breed anywhere in the whole world where ii likes.
33. I won't look down.No I will not.
34. It has taken the decision not to look down.it does not want to be a sight for the man.It is sure of the man's atrocities.
35. With speed of wings I hasten past,
36. And close my eyes against the sun
37. To dream my dreams and make them last.
38. It spreads his wings and start flying past the human inhabitations and closes its eye against the sun  and dreams and enjoys  peacefully in its flight.it flies across the sky
39. and has a safe flight undisturbed, without any stoppage and in the bare sky.

41. The speaker in this poem is the migrant bird.
42. The world is narrowed  by the narrow minded persons ,dividing themselves with the walls of caste,creed,religion,colour and politics.
43. Man does not have the freedom to enjoy his life.
44. He has to take care of himself and his family against all odds. He does not have any security because anytime there will be gunshots and bombs falling on him and destroying him. Birds can fly anywhere ,no visas required and no gates to stop them from entry and exit.
45. The boundaries for man is the caste,creed,religion .race and politics.Man is afraid of another man.
46. The sky is single vast open area  with  no beginning or end.
47. You can know this from the first line of this poem.

51. vigil- watchfulness, keeping awake when one should sleep.

58. It criticises the life of man on earth.Man has no security.Man destroys man by guns and bombs.
